My Race Weekend Packing List

When preparing for a race, I follow a few routines to ensure a relaxed start. A packing list is especially helpful. Since I’m traveling with my van Winnie, the journey to the E1 race stops can take anywhere from 7 to 12 hours. Thus, it’s crucial that I have everything I need with me. Turning back to retrieve something is not an option.

Here’s a simplified list for the upcoming race weekend:

Documents

  • ID card
  • Credit card / debit card
  • Driver’s license (if needed)
  • Cash (in small bills, for transponder deposit and food on-site)

Tools & Equipment

Clothing

  • Jerseys x2 (for longer events, wash or pack a few more, roughly one per day)
  • Thin shirts x2 (possibly for layering)
  • Merino shirts x2 (1x long sleeve / 1x short sleeve, just in case)
  • Bike shorts x2
  • Bibs x2
  • Long bike pants (for cold or rainy weather)
  • Gloves x2
  • Fleece (for evenings or cold weather)
  • Puffed jacket (just in case, especially for stops in April or October)
  • Goggles

These are all the basics on my packing list. Depending on the event, race, or vacation, the packing list will of course be adjusted and/or expanded. With these items, though, I always get through the event weekends well.
